My teaching Philosophy is based on the beliefs of Marzano. In my classroom the focus will be on building each other up through encouragement and positive reinforcement, as well as goal setting. Positive reinforcement can be something as simple as phrasing critiques in a positive way. An example is if a student steps with the wrong foot when throwing a ball, rather than bluntly saying: "You stepped with the wrong foot," I would say: "Great job on your follow through, but make sure you are stepping with the other foot. This way the student sees that the things they are doing well are being noticed as well, rather than just the things they need to work on. This gives them a positive outlook on their learning, helping them to throw away their potential fears of performing something incorrectly.
Goal setting is an important aspect of education as well. As a class, we will have a unit goal and a daily goal. This way the students have something to aim for every day, and can reflect on the things that they did well, along with what they can do better. At the end of class, they will be reminded of the daily goals, giving them a thought to take with them from the class period. Finally, right before we start a new unit, we will have a discussion to reflect on how we accomplished our unit goals, as well as what we could have done better.

Classroom Management Philosophy
My classroom Management Philosophy is based on Marzano as well. Marzano believed Rules and Relationships are pivotal to having a positive classroom culture. Communication of the rules will take place annually, and reminders will occur periodically. A great way to get the students to buy into the rules is by building positive relationships with them. Relationships are one of the most important things in education. Building relationships can be done through simply asking them questions individually about their lives outside of school or even checking in about how they are doing in other classes. Building positive relationships with the students will build trust with the teacher. In doing this, they will be more apt to follow the rules and would be more comfortable asking questions. This way the main focus during the class can be on learning and building skills, with rules only being brought up when they are needed.
